Is Your Mac Startup Disk Almost Full? Here is The Fix

What Is Causing Mac Startup Disk Full

In this section, we will talk about the reasons that cause this disk full error. Before proceeding to further complicated areas, it would be appropriate to be clear on the basic principles of this error message.
What Is Startup Disk in A Mac

The startup disk is fundamentally the volume’s partition. It is where the macOS is installed and it is also the location where users’ files and applications are generally stored.

The default name of the startup disk is Macintosh HD. This name appears when the user turns on the computer for the first time. There’s an option to change the name but the renamed disk would still be the startup disk.

What Is Taking Up My Startup Disk Space

There is only one meaning to this message which is that, the room for further files is almost finished. If you want to store more data, you’ll need to make room for it by deleting old data.

But wait. What exactly is consuming so much of your space that it’s started to show the message? And how to clean startup disk on Mac?

Usually, space is eaten by items such as pictures, movies or backups. This stuff happens to consume most of the disk space. In addition to this, there could also be some ‘other’ files that include cookies, logs, and caches etc. that continue to smother disk space on Mac. The key to freeing space is finding and removing unwanted files through manual means or using specialized software for this purpose.
How To Check Startup Disk’s Available Space on Mac

For all reasons, it is important to determine how much space you have available on the disk. To do that, follow these steps.

Locate and click the “Apple” icon on your screen.

There will be numerous options. Choose “About This Mac”.

Click on the “storage” option.

You will be directed to a box that will show you how much space has been consumed and how much of space is left.

Now we are entering into the second section. Here we will be talking about two ways to free up startup disk space.
Introducing Two Ways to Clean Startup Disk On Mac

Many people have no clue about how to free up space on Mac startup disk. Consequently, they end up learning to live with the message until the disk becomes full.

There are two main ways to clean disk space on a system. The first way is free of cost and consists of typical tried-and-tested tricks. Another method, however, is official that requires certain effective software for the removal of releasing disk space on Mac.
1. Free but Time-consuming Ways

This way consists of certain tips to free up startup disk space. Here are some of the most commonly used tricks to remove unnecessary files and release space on Mac.
1.1Clear Cache Files

Browsers and apps tend to create temporary data files called cache which help a Mac run faster. These cache files get recreated every time you run the app. If there are apps that you are not using anymore, deleting their leftovers may help. It may free up a few gigabytes of space.

1.2Delete Old Backup Files

Synchronization of iPhone with iTunes normally creates dozens of backup copies on a Mac device. These backups consume several gigabytes of disk space on your system. Deleting these old backup files is a good way to reclaim lost disk space.

1.3Get Rid of Large Files

Most of these large files are eating many hundreds of MBs per file. The larger the file, the more space it consumes. You can either delete these files or move them to external storage to clear Mac startup disk.
1.4Remove Unnecessary Downloads

Checkout your “downloads” folder and remove all unnecessary and extra files. These downloads can take up a lot of space on your Mac. Deleting them will give you a large amount of storage space. While all these tricks may be effective in clearing space, the fact also remains that they are not without their cons.

These manual efforts are often quite time consuming as you have to select each file yourself and delete them one by one. You might also end up deleting integral files which can have an impact on the performance of the Mac. A certain degree of familiarity with the inner workings of the Mac system is also needed for this way to be a viable strategy. There are other, much safer and faeter ways that can help you out.
2. Safer and Faster Way

So, is there a secure and quick way on How to empty your startup disk on a Mac? Yes! Using a Mac cleaner app is another efficient way to fix it. One app that we recommend is Umate Mac Cleaner as an effective means of clearing disk space without putting precious data at risk. It is an advanced software that helps clean your Mac ensuring that disk space remains available for necessary items. It is capable of eliminating more than 40 types of files.

Here is the question. Why Umate Mac Cleaner stands out compared to the free ways we mentioned above? The software offers practical help in the management of your device’s startup storage help. And you will get the following benefits by using the app.Sponsor ads:

Downgrade iPadOS to iOS 12

Using iTunes to Downgrade iPad OS to iOS 12 (Data Loss)

As good as the previous method s for the users, there is another method to downgrade iPadOS to iOS 12 and it is via the official app; iTunes. This is a usual iTunes procedure that works with all the iOS devices mostly the same way.

The steps are a bit complicated compared to the other method, and there is also the possibility that everything may not go as smoothly as told on the Apple website. Users have complained about the uncertainty of this method.

Also be sure to make a backup of your iPad as this procedure will erase the device completely. Let's have a look at the steps;

Step 1: First, you have to make sure that you are using the latest version of iTunes on your computer; if not you need to update the program to its latest edition.Read more:hd games free

Step 2: Now, go to your iPad and navigate to "Settings" and then tap on "iCloud". Here, tap on "Find My iPhone" in order to deactivate it. This service actually interferes with the said procedure. So, turning it off is the best option.

Step 3: Now, go to the official website and download the required IPSW file.

Step 4: Now, connect your iPad to your computer and iTunes will detect the device automatically and it will be launched.

Step 5: On the iTunes panel, click on "Summary" at the left side of the panel.

Step 6: Then, you will view the option "Restore iPad" click on it while you are holding the "Option" key for Mac and "Shift" key if you are using Windows computer.

Step 7: A new window will be opened where you have to import the downloaded IPSW file. So, locate the package and click "Open".

Step 8: After all the verification is complete, a message will pop-up on the screen where you have to click "Update" in order to proceed.

Step 9: After that iTunes will start installing iOS 12 and the progress will be visible on the panel. You just have to wait for to get completed.

After iTunes is finished with the procedure, the iPad will restart. OS, if you want to confirm the downgrade, you can go to Settings and check the iOS version.

How to Locate Friends Using Find My

In iOS 13 and iPadOS, Apple combined the earlier Find My Friends and Find My iPhone apps into a single app called "Find My," a sort of catch-all place on your iOS device that you can use for finding whatever you need to find.

Find My works much like the apps it replaces. For example, the new app features a section that allows you to locate friends and family members that have shared their location with you, and lets you share your location in kind.

The following steps show you how you can locate your friends using the Find My app.

Launch the Find My app on your iPhone or iPad. (The Find My app is available by default on all new iOS devices, but if you've deleted it, you need to download the free app from the App Store.)

Tap the People tab at the bottom of the screen, if it's not already selected.

Drag up the People card onto the screen with a swipe of your finger to see a list of people who are sharing their location with you, or who have shared their location with you in the past.

Tap a person who has been located to see their whereabouts on the map. (If no location is found, it's possible that person's device is turned off or they have stopped sharing their location with you.)

Note that the person's location card appears below the map showing their location, and provides some actions and links that can come in handy. From here, you can access their contact card, as well as directions for getting to their location.

Drag up the person's location card over the map and you'll see additional actions including an option to add them to your favorites, remove them from the People section, or get notifications when they leave or arrive at a specific location.

Tapping Add... under Notifications also gives you the option of notifying your friend when you leave or arrive at a specific notification (assuming you've shared your location with them). Also read:cricfree alternatives

How to Adjust a Filter Applied to Your Images in Photos

The Photos app on the iPhone and the iPad has had pre-set filters for a number of years, but Apple previously provided no way to adjust the effect those filters had on your pictures.

Happily, iOS 13 adds a simple way to change the intensity of pre-set filters, giving you a little more agency over your photo enhancements. Keep reading to learn how it works.

Before you follow these steps, make sure you've updated your device to iOS 13 (or iPadOS 13). You can check that your software's up-to-date by launching the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and tapping through to General -> Software Update.

Launch the Photos app on your iOS device.

Select a picture in the Photos tab by tapping it.

Tap Edit in the top-right corner of the screen.

In the black-bordered Edit interface, tap the Filter icon (it looks like a Venn diagram) at the bottom of the screen.

Tap a filter to preview its effect on your photo. You can swipe along the strip of filters with your finger to reveal more effects.

Notice the dial that appears below the selected filter – swipe left or right on it to adjust the intensity level of the filter.

Tap Done when you're happy with the filter effect.

Remember that you can gain access to the same filter adjustment tools whenever you take a picture using the stock Camera app - you don't even need to unlock your device to do so. Sponsor ads:

Apple Watch Launched Four Years Ago Today

On April 24, 2015, the original Apple Watch launched in nine countries around the world. Four years later and we are now on the fourth iteration of the wearable device, the Apple Watch Series 4. Over the years Apple has worked on improving Apple Watch with a better and bigger display, water resistance, additional health and fitness features, and more.

Apple Watch (first generation)

As usual for Apple products, rumors about an Apple wearable device began ramping up in the years before the official Apple Watch launch. In 2013, Apple filed a trademark for an "iWatch," despite the fact that the device would eventually be known as the Apple Watch. Apple did the same thing for the iPad, seeking to secure rights for the "iSlate" trademarkwhile also secretly filing trademarks for the official "iPad" name.

As the launch neared, multiple reports suggested that Apple was facing battery life, screen, and manufacturing issues while developing the Apple Watch. Battery life was an ongoing issue for Apple when it was creating Apple Watch, since the company's goal was reportedly to create a device that would last for at least four to five days. This never came to pass, and even the brand new Apple Watch Series 4 requires daily charging, although many people do get around two days of life at times.

Apple Watch Edition

At an event in September 2014 Apple finally unveiled the Apple Watch, and then waited until a March 2015 event to set an April 24 launch date for the wearable device. On that day, the Apple Watch launched in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, and Japan, priced starting at $349 for a 38mm Sport and $399 for a 42mm Sport. Prices increased to between $549 and $1,099 for the stainless steel Apple Watch models, and then to as much as $17,000 for the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition.

At launch, Apple advertised the Apple Watch as a fashion accessory, with the high-end Edition, the Hermés collection (launched September 2015), and similarly expensive first-party bands, like the Link Bracelet ($500+) and Modern Buckle ($250). The Apple Watchwas successful, but the company really hit its stride with the smartwatch once it began encouraging fitness features of the device, like when it partnered with Nike for the Apple Watch Nike+ in 2016. Apple has now discontinued the Apple Watch Edition, lowered the price of some of the more expensive bands, and placed the Apple Watch as a more direct competitor to fitness wearables like the Fitbit.

The Apple Watch Series 2 Nike+

Today, the Apple Watch has grown to become the global smartwatch leader, comprising half of the market in 2018. In total, Apple held 51 percent of the global smartwatch marketshare last year, down from 67 percent in 2017. Despite the drop, Apple remains the "clear market leader" in the U.S. smartwatch market according to the NPD Group. On an earnings call for the first quarter of 2019, Apple CEO Tim Cook described the company's wearables revenue (including products like Apple Watch and AirPods) as "approaching the size of a Fortune 200 company."

As to what's coming this year, the Apple Watch Series 5 might feature a new ceramic casing design when it launches in September 2019. Next year, Apple may add a sleep tracking app to the Apple Watch, encouraging users to wear their Apple Watch while they sleep to track sleep quality and other metrics. The feature is in testing with Apple employees and if the project proves successful, it could be added to the Apple WatchSeries 6, accompanied with a low power mode so as to not impact battery life.

Apple Watch Series 4 saw the first major form factor change

In the future, Apple is reportedly looking to launch an Apple Watch that lacks physical buttons and instead adopts support for touch and swipe-based gestures along the sides of the casing. Other future Apple Watch additions include placing hardware into the Apple Watch band, blood glucose monitoring, and an Apple Watch with a microLED screen. The Apple Watch may be the first device to receive an Apple-designed microLED display, but the technology is still a "couple of years" from reaching consumers.

5 Ways to Fix iPhone Messages/iMessages Not Delivered or Received in iOS 12 2019

1. Check Apple System Status

Apple's System Status Page is a revolutionary and very hepful measure with which users can easily determine if the errors they are facing, for instance iPhone message or iMessage not delivered or received problem on their device is because of any service outages on Apple servers (due to maintenance) or it is just the device.

Reportedly, a few hours of sporadic downtime is noted in iMessage and Facetime services, over the past months. Visit the Apple System Status Page link - https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/ - and check if it is your device that's tossing up the error or is because of the Apple servers.

2. Turn On Send as SMS

This is a step to resolve your iPhone message not delivered or received. In general, the cell service is responsible for sending or receiving text messages, so make sure your device has a good cellular signal. Also, check if you have set permissions to send messages in your settings. Head to Settings, tap on Messages and toggle on Send as SMS if it is not.

3. Reset iMessage

To Reset iMessage sometimes helps when your iMessages are not delivered or received. Check if your settings are appropriately stored, if they are then your device may have lost connecction with the Apple's iMessage server. Here's how to reset your iMessage:

Open "Settings", tap on "Messages", then click on "Send & Receive" and make sure to uncheck all email addresses listed under the section "You Can be Reached by iMessage at".

Next, scroll up to the top, hit on your Apple ID and hit "Sign Out". Go back to "Messages" and toggle off the "iMessage" service. Reboot your device now.

Now, when your device is back up give it a rest of 5-7 minutes and then reverse the actions carried above. Turn on "iMessage" service in the "Messages" section under "Settings" and sign in with your Apple ID again in "Send & Receive" option.

Lastly, make sure to check the email addresses you wish to use for iMessage service.

Everything back to normal? Good it should be. If not, follow up with further solutions.

4. Reset Network Settings and Hard Reset iPhone

Clearing or resetting Network Settings will clear out any hindrance triggering the iPhone message or iMessage not delivered or received error. Once done with Reset Network Settings, hard reboot/reset your iPhone. Here's step by step process to do it.

Get into "General" under the "Settings", tap on "Reset" and then hit "Reset Network Settings". Enter the passcode if prompted.

Now, hard reset/reboot your iPhone by holding down the Sleep/Wake button along with the Home button if you own iPhone 6s or older. If you own iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, press and hold Volume Down instead for no less than 10 seconds.

5: Delayed Release

6: Performancee
1: Design

According to ‘EverythingApple” , the design of the iPhone 8 from the images released , is a step back from our expectation. We expected a Bezel- less and high-tech design. The display is larger than what we expect an the design is not as really futuristic as we would want. It seems Apple only wanted to beat Samsung S8 and that is it. It is an improvement on the iPhone S. But the S8 looks more futuristic than the iPhone 8. It has an E-sensor on the back. They also talked about the Colour. According to them, the iPhone 8 will have four colours. The fourth will be a new mirror-like finish like titanium, white, glossy, silver or golden mirror finish.

2: Security

Apple enthusiasts around the world have continued to voiced their fears concerning the design of the device. Firstly, they have expressed displeasure over the rumor that the Apple is taking out the home button and touch ID and replacing them with facial recognition. A research by Steven Troughton-Smith corroborates the rumors. According to him, a peek into Apple’s HomePod Speaker reveals that of a truth Touch ID would be replaced with a face detection.

According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo the iPhone 8 will come without the Touch ID sensor. Apple prefers facial recognition enabled by 3D-sensing front camera placed at the top of the screen of the 5.8 inch phone to having a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

Is this a good move? Many Apple enthusiasts do not think so. Beyond unlocking the device, Touch ID contributed to the privacy and security of data on the iPhone.

Replacing Touch ID with Facial recognition is not a very good idea and they gave reasons for such assertion. According to them, an impediment to the success of Facial recognition would be Apple Pay and the App store itself. It would take some time for iPhone users to adjust to using the face detection feature for Apple Pay or App store purchases. They hope that Apple would change its mind and replace it with a Power button at the very least.

In our opinion, we think that out-rightly replacing the Touch ID with facial recognition is not the best thing to do because facial recognition may not entirely protect your device from being hacked.
3: Delayed Wireless Charging Feature

John Gruber from ‘Daring Fireball’ suggests that although the iPhone 8 will have a built-in wireless induction charging, it may not be activated during the launch of the iPhone 8. Judging from the fact that the “Portrait Mode” was released three weeks after the iPhone 7 was launched, the adopter and pad may come with the iOS 11.1.

Gruber states that the reason for the delay may not be unconnected with software or hardware issues.

Unless the adopter and pad are sold separately after a thorough test-run to ensure everything works fine, delaying the release of accessories like they did the last time does not show progress. Reason maybe be software or hardware related.

4: Pricing

Gruber drops a bombshell on the price of the iPhone 8. There is bad news for those who are saving a few dollars a week and waiting patiently to purchase the iPhone 8. They would need to save more because the iPhone 8 could reach $1399 or even $1500. This is really insane.

According to him, the reason for such price hike is the premium materials used for the product. The device is not for only those who do not want to settle for the $800 iPhone 7S. It will not sacrifice anything. Materials, features, battery life. He goes further to suggest that Apple skyrocketed the prize of the iPhone 8 because it does not want people choosing the iPhone 8 over iPhone 7S.

Many people have predicted that the iPhone 8 will not sale as much as the iPhone because of the price.

There is no need coughing out such amount of money for a phone that is not futuristic. If I must pay $1500 for the iPhone 8 it must be more than just a square design and an improved iPhone 7S.
5: Delayed Release

The release date of the iPhone 8 has been beclouded by uncertainties. We have heard that it would be released in the fall and some people also said it will not be out until October.

Although reports reaching us suggest that the delay is as a result of a shortage in storage chips for mass production. Apple needs 3D-nando chips with 64 layers flash storage and is seeking help from Samsung.

They want a 64 layers flash storage to create a faster storage. If they succeed, the iPhone 8 will be the fastest device on earth but if they do not, then it may be a beautiful disaster.Sponsor ads:
